 This figure shows an example of a single user that need to access up to 16 highly-isolated computers. Computers may be standard PCs connected with KVM cables to the KVM Blade rack or internal computer modules or thin-clients connected to copper of fiber LAN. The KVM Blade rack is typically located remotely in a closed room and fiber extenders are used to link it to the user's desktop (not shown here). On the user's desktop there are two displays, keyboard, mouse and the Remote Desktop Controller (RDC). RDC is used to provide the user with a comfortable user interface to switch between computers. Small display in the RDC show computer names to allow easy browsing of sources for each display.
